college the year after next year

I haven't really thought about college .I guess it would be kinda scary a bit at first because your entering a big school with lots of older kids than you. And its also a new school!! Which means you have to make new friends. I'm not looking forward to being in a big new school with lots of small and big new faces, but ill try my best to make new friends. But I am looking forward to all of the new subjects and getting to choose what subjects I want to do. And hopefully the teachers are nice too.

dino day!!

on Thursday it was Dino day, basically a  day about dinosaurs. we had this day because some kids went to inter-zones athletics. For the Dino day we had to make a movie about a dinosaur/s. we had the whole day to make it. first we had to get in groups i was in a group with Samanalie,Rebecca and Niamh. we decided to do pterodactyl and pleisiosaur. We had to research them and write a few facts down. Then we had to make a scene with a recycled milk box. Our group made two scenes a rocky scene and a underwater scene. Then we had to go outside and film me standing by some rocky cliffs. And saying some facts about them and pretending to see a pterodactyl. Then we went inside and got a mini pterodactyl figurine. And tied some string around it and made it fly around the rocky scene. For the pleisiosaur we did the same thing. our movie was very funny and i really loved learning about dinosaurs!!

guy fawks

why do we celebrate a guy that tried to blow up parliament with fireworks? I think that's just crazy. I mean why should a criminal get their own day that's not fair. I think that matariki should be celebrated with fireworks because they celebrate the stars on matariki. and fire works are very much like stars.

what do you think about this?

my dream job

my ideal job is to be a zoo keeper. I would like to be a zoo keeper because I like animals and I have always been interested them. If I want to become a zoo keeper than I will need to study biology, physics and  maths. other activities that I could do that would help me develop the skills I might need are I could visit the zoo and help out for the day, I could look after animals more, learn about animals more and help out at a vet for the day.

if you were to work at the zoo what would your fave animal to look after be???

CAMP

In the holidays I went to forest lakes camp, in Otaki. I took my friend Melissa. We went on Monday. I was sooo tired because I was up all night thinking about camp.     When we got there it was hailing and raining (dumb). At amp we did HEAPS of activities, like go karting (my favourite), canoeing, flying fox, horse riding, abseiling, canteen (a shop that sells lollies), archery, water slide, mudslide, and laser tag. All of these were soo fun but my favourite was go karting. When I did go karting I went too fast and crashed, and almost went off a cliff. Overall it was sooo fun and I would love to do it again

We have been learning about henri rousseu lately. And he mostly paints jungles and him in jungles or weird babies. So we were going to make a jungle of our own in our class. We painted giant vines and leaves, and also animals. I painted a leopard. the techniques i used to paint this was a mix of colours and shading of black around the nose to make it pop out.

can you count how many spots there are on him?

medieval times topic

This term we have been learning about medieval times. I learned about three crop rotation and when it was introduced, I remembered about that from the work that we had been doing on farms for our minecraft village. we learnt about the plague that came to Europe in about the 14th century. I learnt this in the group reading discussions. I also learnt about cooks and how they can be a lords favourite and become a knight. I learnt allot more as well. The things that we did that helped me remember the things that we learnt were group discussions, watching videos, building things on minecraft, role-playing on minecraft and doing power-points.

Tech
Lately at tech I have been doing cooking. So far I have done woodwork's  sowing and cooking. I made a spoon in woodwork's  a pillow with Gunter on it in sowing and lots of yummy food in cooking. In woodwork's I learnt what the safety rules were and what all of the tools were called. And I learnt also how to use tools properly. In sowing I learnt how to set up the sewing machine and how to use a sewing machine. And also I learned how to sew straight lines and curved lines. In cooking I learnt about bacteria in food and how to know if meat is cooked well enough and all of the safety rules in the kitchen. My favourite thing so far has to be cooking.

catholic schools day

Catholic schools day recount
On Wednesday 22nd we caught the train to St Brigid’s for catholic schools day. When we got there we went to church and said some prayers to start off the day.
Then we went back to St Brigid’s for morning tea (free sausages!!). During morning tea it gave me some time to make new friends. I met a girl called Bridget and a boy called A.J, also I met these really cool boys they were called Dohn and Joseph they were from Philippines. We made up nicknames for ourselves like dohn was Dohnut and Joseph was Jonut and I was mad-mad our groups was called team frendship.
We got into our groups and went off with some teachers. In our group we played lots of get to know each other games like: wink murderer, bump and days of the week. Afterwards we said our goodbyes and caught the train back to school.
This experience gave me some social time and I met new people. I tried my best in the games which were really fun!! It was not what I expected because it was more fun, i really enjoyed it.

my timestables

every Friday we have a basic facts test. I need to improve on my 4's ,8's,6's and 7's timetables. I really need to work on my fast knowledge as I am quiet slow at multiplying and division. So far I have practised daily but not enough for me to achieve my score by far. Our whakatoki
for this term is that if your reach for the highest mountain if you fall you will reach the lofty mountain. This means if you succeed and you try your best you will get somewhere but it will take some time.

st bridges

on Wednesday 22 may we are going to St Bridge's for catholic schools day.

ASB LESSON

On the 14th of may tuesday we had an ASB financial literacy lesson. The main ideas in the lesson were save money dont just spend it. Save it for a certain thing and set an goal for yourself. We had something that was called a CAR goal (it stands for Clear Achievable Realistic),  And there were 5 rules: put a picture of what you want to buy in your wallet, spend some on you but save some too,do your homework, reward yourself along the way and make sure you can save up for it. I think I need to work on my money management because as soon as I get some money I spend it on something straight away.

my favourite day in the holidays

dad woke me up at five in the morning!!!!. It was Anzac day he told me we were going to the dawn parade. So I got up and washed my face. I got into some warm clothes and wore my woolly hat(it was a chipmunk!). We went out straight away and had no breakfast, dad said that we would get it afterwards. We got a hot chocolate on the way  to Upper-hut  and met outside the library.

All  of the soldiers were lined up and they started walking to the drums, we followed them. We kept walking and stopped at the memorial. some people went up and said a speech, and then they said a poem, and then we sung a song and we finally sung the national anthem and it was finished(finally). I went up and put a poppy on the memorial and some people put wreaths down.

We left and went to McDonald's, I got a BLT bagel and a juice and dad got a coffee and a big breakfast. Afterwards we went for a walk and looked at some shops in Wellington city. And then we went to Te Papa and I saw the game masters exhibition. It was sooo cool. I played sims most of the time, but there was lots of other games like really old ones and really new ones with touch screens. we stayed there for most of the day after that I was really tired.
