LAST BLOG POST :(

helllloooooo ITS ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!! OMYGOSHAAAAAAHYAYYAYAYAYAY
but sadly also schools over :'(

These holidays I might be going up to Rotorua to see my family once again. Which I really like because my grandma spoils me, and I ACTUALLY have a cousin over there who is my age...  Well maybe one year older but that doesnt make a difference pfffft.
also i am probably going to go to forest lakes for the last time. For those of you that don't know what forest lakes is its a holiday camp, and i have been there 3 times so far and really enjoyed it!

I am also going to see my mum in Masterton, and probably meet up with more family too... I think that my family who is in Australia is coming over to see us!!

Since this is my last Blog post of the year I would like to say goodbye to everyone at st bens and i will miss you guys. Good luck to all the year 8s for college next year, i hope we can stay in touch (not the boys,especially sam.v )

My term something highlights

This term my highlights would have to be:
-the speech competition
-year 8 retreat
-learning about space
-electives
soo... yea that's some of my highlights of this term, and no Samantha I definitely didn't write as much as you

COLLEGE

COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM NOT READYYYYY, I don't want to leave school yet but I do want to leave school CONFUSION.....  meh I want to go to college but there are some things that I am worried about, like getting more homework and also having to make more friends(but I'm okay with that heheh) so I don't really know how I feel at the moment, but I know its time to grow up :'(  now I can be a BIG kid. I don't have any other worries other than being to dumb to understand the work but anyways...

I did my speech

SPEEEEECHEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!! I did it but it didn't go to plan. I did well until the conclusion (sigh) then it all came tumbling down (cue the scary music) I sort of sort of forgot it even though I had cue cards grrrrrr. my speech was on everyday accidental inventions. Soooo yea #getrekt. YAAAAAAAAAAAA #SALTY #TEAMIANITE

UGLIEEEEES

I have been reading the series uglies. I am the one that introduced Samantha to it BTW so heh. But I definitely agree with her it is a reaaalllllyyyy good series. At the moment i am up to the third book in the series called specials. So the book is a dystopian future and there is like a city that is secluded from the outside world. And so on every uglies 16th birthday the have to have plastic surgery to fish pretty much everything on their body and then they get to move to new pretty town. So tally youngblood the main character in the book) tries to escape her world. And there is a lot of drama.

Speech

I'm feeling a little bit nervous for speeches because I don't really like speeches that much but its okay when I get it over and done with. I think that I'm doing pretty well with writing my speech o far and I really just need to memorize it. I really want to be loud and not forget my speech and have good eye contact with the audience.

Space

Lately we have been learning about space. I think that learning about the seasons was really fun, but it was also a little bit confusing at the same time. I think that its interesting that the sun and the moon both take part in the seasons swell.

camping and donut adventures

In the holidays I went to a camping holiday program that's called forest lakes. Elizabeth came with me as well. This was my third time going and my last :( since I'm turning thirteen soon I wont be able to go cause its ages are 7-12. But every time I go there its really fun. The activities that we did there were horse riding, kayaking, abseiling, flying fox, swimming and some more (that I might have forgotten). When I came back from camp, the next day I went shopping with Katie and something funny happened. So I decided to get a donut and Katie got one too, I was eating mine really slowly and Katie had already finished hers. So she decided she was going to whack my hand, since I wasn't holding my donut tightly because who holds their food tightly, it flung out and almost but didn't hit someone in the face. Since I was really enjoying my donut I quickly ran over to the donut picked it up and said "I aint wasting a perfect donut" and ate the rest. After that I didn't feel to well......

The production is over waaaah.

This year our production was called agents of space. my highlights had to be the cantina dance and all the little jokes they were funny. We stuffed up sometimes a little bit but it was fine. my role was the bar maid in the first scene the cantina and a Hench in the last scene. I think that my performance on both night was alright. I think I should have smiled more during my dance but other than that the production was great! The sad thing is iim a year 8 and this was my last production.

PRODUCTION (AAAAAAH)

The production has finally come this year. I'm so excited last time we did the production I was a soldier. This year I am a Proprietor of a bar, and I'm also a extra hench who gets a solo at singing. My costume for the bar maid is finished. I think it looks great!! all we need to do is to put the make up on. My lines are good I've learnt them off by heart cause I don't really have many. I think we need to work on the dance though, because we are not very far ahead at all. I have helped aisling make the badges for the agents and also helped Samantha with a medallion. I probably should help more people with the props. But I am very excited and also scared at the same time. I hope we get it done soon.

Ancient Egypt

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about ancient Egypt. The way that we learnt all the information really helped me to learn a lot. We played lots of different activities and got to write a double page spread. I wrote my double page spread about Ancient Egyptian cosmetics. I really enjoyed learning all the different facts about their makeup. My favourite activity had to be doing who wants to be an Egyptianare. I learnt a lot of things here are some:

-The Ancient Egyptian cosmetics had medical uses
-About most of the gods and what their powers were
-About the Pyramids of Giza and how all the people who built it were related
 and lots more.

I really enjoyed learning about Ancient Egypt.

gymnastics

lately we have been going to Nairnville. and we have been doing gymnastics. The set-up each time was different. but we mainly had balancing beams, trampolines, still rings,a pole that you do flips on  and so on. First we usually have a warm up game like octopus or captains coming. A new game we have been playing is a game called snakes. Then after our warm up game we did some stretching and got put into three groups. One group went with one instructor, another group went with the other instructor and one group went with our teacher. Then the instructor/teacher would show us how to do everything. So for instance if she showed us the routine on the balancing beam, and what to do on the still rings. And then we would all go off and pick a thing to start with and we usually go around in a circle. my favourite part was going on the very bouncy trampoline. The new things that I learnt were how to do a dive roll properly and how to do a handstand without breaking my finger. 

book groups

lately at school we have been having book groups. Yesterday was our last book group :-( we were reading dairy queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock. at first I didn't really want to read this book but it turned out to be interesting and fun. I think what went well was us working together really well and letting each other take turns to talk. I think what we(or I) didn't do so well was bring in the food, oh and yeah we got to have food while having our book group. from this experience I think I gained reading a book that I wouldn't normally have to read. so yea comment a book that I should read down below.

younger reading

Back when I was about four I loved to read a little box of books called when I go by Jill Harker. There are are four books called: when I go to the park, When I go to the farm, when I go to the nursery and when I go to the supermarket. And guess what I still have them today! sitting on my shelf.  The plot of the books is basically one child goes somewhere and they say what they do, and then at the end they ask you if you can remember it all. My dad used to read it to me or I would just look at the pictures. I guess I liked it so much because it had cool pictures.  

Waikite valley hot pools

On the first week of the holidays we travelled to see my dads side of the family in Rotorua. During the time that we spent in Rotorua we went to the Waikite hot pools. And let me tell you it's quite hot if you stay there for a long time!

The water that goes into the hot pools in actually from a river that has BOILING water going down it. The water that's taken from the river goes through a cooling process. These hot pools are one of the cleanest in new Zealand because they empty them every night. There is about 6 pools in the whole of the Waikite hot pools all of different temperature.

I went to the hot pools with my cousins Danika and kaeden. First we went in the big hot pool and then I decided that I would be brave enough to try the hottest one. And man that was a mistake I ended up jumping around shouting hot hot hot. After what seemed like hours we got out and we looked like old people (no offence old people) we were all wrinkly from being in the pool so long. Going to the hot pools was really relaxing and nice I hope you can go sometime.

MISSION FAIR

Last week was the mission fair.Sadly it was raining so we couldn't do our original idea the sponge run. But luckily we had lots more to do like snow cones, candyfloss, lolly jars and throw the sponge at the cans. I mainly worked on the candyfloss and snow cones. I think the lolly jar and the snow cones went well. we were quite successful and earned over $147.00!!
I'm a year 8 so I won't be here next year but what I would do differently would to maybe space out the break times better and to swap more on the jobs.
